"You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you." Isaiah 26:3
There is a particular kind of exhaustion that comes from holding everything together while feeling like you’re coming apart. It’s the quiet anxiety in the car before work, the sleepless hour at 3 AM, the heavy sigh before walking through the door. We carry so much that isn't ours to carry—the weight of deadlines, the ache for loved ones who are struggling, the fear of what might happen next. The promise of perfect peace feels almost impossible to grasp in the middle of it all.
And yet, the verse doesn't promise peace for those who have perfect lives or perfect faith. It promises peace for those whose minds are steadfast—anchored, fixed, planted—because they trust. It’s not about having all the answers. It’s about choosing, sometimes moment by moment, to fix our gaze on the One who is already holding everything together.
Lord Jesus, you see the ones who are barely holding on this week. The colleague who smiles in meetings but is drowning in grief. The friend who is caring for aging parents while raising small children. The neighbor who lost their job and hasn't told anyone. The family member who is quietly battling depression. I bring them before you now, asking that your peace—the peace that passes all understanding—would guard their hearts and minds.
For those who feel invisible, let them know they are seen by you. For those who are weary, grant them rest that sleep cannot provide. For those who are anxious about tomorrow, remind them that you are already there. For those who have lost hope, breathe new life into their spirits. And for those who don't know how to ask for help, send someone with your compassion to walk beside them.
May we be instruments of your peace this week—slowing down enough to notice, listening closely enough to hear, and loving boldly enough to make a difference.
I pray this in the name of Jesus, who is our peace.
Amen. 🌿
